Protests erupt in Pakistan after ex-PM Imran Khan’s arrest on corruption charges

Imran Khan, the ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan, was taken into custody during his court hearing in the capital city of Islamabad on corruption charges.

Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, was taken into custody by the paramilitary force Rangers during his biometrics procedure in Islamabad, as confirmed by Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, a leader of his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.

This move triggered widespread protests across several cities in Pakistan, with PTI supporters calling for Khan’s release. The arrest was made by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in connection with a case involving the Al-Qadir University Trust.

Despite the numerous charges filed against him, Khan has denied all accusations and claims that they are politically motivated since his ousting from power in the previous year.
