Social Media Sites Revived in Pakistan Following PTA’s Official Announcement

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has made an official declaration regarding the reinstatement of social media sites in Pakistan.

An announcement from a PTA representative revealed that, in compliance with orders from the Ministry of Interior, access to social media platforms has been reinstated. This development has led to the revival of the Twitter and Facebook applications on all internet service providers (ISPs), including their web interfaces on various devices such as desktops and laptops.

Nonetheless, users are still experiencing intermittent issues with the web-based version of YouTube, while the mobile application seems to be working fine, at least on PTCL. It is important to note that the full recovery of social media platforms could span several hours, sometimes even up to 24.

This delay primarily stems from the time needed for the implementation of block or unblock protocols across multiple exchanges, causing some users to experience a delay in gaining access and usability of these social media sites in Pakistan.
