In a peculiar incident at La Porte County Jail in Indiana, a man was apprehended while attempting to smuggle a pair of scissors inside his anus. The incident unfolded when jail staff became suspicious of the man’s behavior during a routine search. To confirm their suspicions, two body scans were conducted. During the electronic body scan, Lieutenant Jeff Holt, the jail’s assistant commander of operations, noticed a foreign object inside the man’s anal cavity.
Despite the man’s initial resistance and lack of cooperation, a subsequent scan revealed that the object had shifted and was identified as an eight-and-a-half inch pair of scissors. Swift action was taken, and the scissors were safely removed without any further complications. Captain Derek J Allen commended Lieutenant Holt for his training, experience, and efficient handling of the situation, preventing a potentially dangerous object from entering the jail premises.
Authorities did not disclose specific details about the man or the reasons behind his arrest. However, it is worth noting that the jail’s full-body scanner, which has been in use since 2017, has previously detected various illicit items such as tattooing equipment, drugs, and paraphernalia.
