Massive Ocean Found Hidden Under Earth’s Crust

Recently, numerous mind-blowing scientific discoveries have been reported, such as the identification of a terrifying black hole facing us, the detection of a massive hole in the sun, the rediscovery of a continent missing for 375 years, and now the revelation of a vast ocean concealed beneath the Earth’s crust.

This water source is stored in a rock called ringwoodite, located approximately 400 miles underground. Ringwoodite can soak up water like a sponge and has a crystal structure that allows it to attract hydrogen and trap water, thereby containing a substantial amount of water under the conditions of the deep mantle.

This discovery suggests that there may be a whole-Earth water cycle that explains the abundant liquid water on the planet’s surface. Scientists identified this underground ocean by analyzing earthquakes and detecting shockwaves beneath the Earth’s surface.

Even if the rock contains only 1% water, it implies that there is three times more water under the Earth’s surface than in the oceans on the surface.
