Tesla’s billionaire CEO, Elon Musk, has announced plans for a “fully sustainable earth” as part of the company’s third “Master Plan,” unveiled during an Investor Day event at the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.
The event also saw Tesla confirm plans for its sixth Gigafactory, located in Nuevo León, Mexico. While details on the facility’s next-gen vehicle were not provided, Musk did confirm that the new location will be involved in its manufacturing.
Reports suggest the Mexican factory will require an initial investment of between $800 million and $1 billion, with a total cost of $10 billion when fully operational. This follows on from Tesla’s investment of $3.6 billion in its first Gigafactory in Nevada, which will gain an additional 4 million square feet of manufacturing space for the production of Tesla Semi and 4680 cell.
The announcement of Tesla’s “Master Plan” for a sustainable future is a significant development in the fight against climate change, and Musk’s vision is sure to attract attention from around the world.
While the specific details of the plan remain unclear, the commitment to sustainable energy sources is a promising step towards a greener, more sustainable future.
